Oran Park - 14th/15th Nov 2009 - Farewell Meeting :-(

Saturday turned on a beautiful but scorching hot day for the send last ever race at the Park.
Despite the heat the racing was very controlled with only a few small incidents. It was good to see such a good turnout.
Sadly for the last time I was able to catch my favorite Oran Park shots to leave with some memories of this awesome track.

Sunday put on equally beautiful weather but the thankfully the temperature was kept down slightly but a cool breeze.
Being the last day the racing got a little more intense with a red flag around mid day.
I was unable to stay for the entire day after suffering de-hydration and sunburn from the previous day but I was able to catch a lot of action.

I hope you like the photos from the last ever race at this track. It has been a great pleasure and honor to witness some awesome racing at this track and to capture some memorable moments.

Oran Park - State Titles 2009
My apologies to everyone for my absence from the tracks.
Personal circumstances have kept me away for a while and may continue to do so for the rest of the year.

The state titles at Oran Park was my first venture back to the track but unfortunately I forgot to renew my accreditation with the AKA and it was great enthusiasm from certain AKA officials who did not hesitate to kick me out.
I’m sure they were grateful that they did not have to make up anything this time to harass me.

I only caught a few photos so I will not be selling any of the shots I did get. However, for this event, if anyone wishes to receive the full res images for free you can email me the image names and you will be able to download them yourself at no cost. Anyone wanting to get the photos on CD from this event will only have to pay for the postage.

I have been fighting the AKA harassment for years now, basically since the day I arrived at the track, they have tried very creatively to put me out of business on more than one occasion. It is only getting worse as other photographers use their long time friendship with AKA officials to extend their insecurity by getting them to harass other photographers. It is not just myself that get the brunt of this harassment.

It is a pity that a sporting organization actively is promoting that competition is bad for the sport and would prefer to leave the promotion of the sport to photographers who’s method of selling photos borders on harassment and blackmail.

It has been my goal to increase the level of professionalism and quality that was lacking in the photography space when I first started and to promote this fantastic sport. I am very glad that it has caused others to lift their game and despite the harassment and physical abuse that the other photographers’ have directed at me, I believe I have been successful.

You all have a brilliant sport, filled with many great people who I have been very honoured to get to know over the years.
Your sport deserves to be promoted and receive the attention it needs. It is regrettable that AKA officials do not believe in this philosophy, only to further their own agenda and ultimately that of thier friends.

Although I will be attempting to get accreditation shortly I am certain that the AKA officials will do everything in their power to block my application as they do every year.

I hope to be back at the track soon.

Here are the photos i was able to catch and here are the top shots from the day.

Oran Park State Tiles
It was a beautiful weekend for the running of the PSC round at the creek.
Saturday started with a good turnout for the day 1 classes to kick things off.
Although I missed the few incidents that marred an almost perfect day of racing, I was able to catch plenty of action.
Here are the top shots from the day.

Sunday was beautiful and hot.
The turnout for the day 2 class was defiantly lacking as it looked like many dropped out of this round.
I only have a few shots from the day because I was forced to leave the track early, but I am really happy with the shots I was able to catch.
Our best wishes for a speedy recovery go out the Andrew who was taken to hospital after an incident on turn 2.
My apologies for not being able stay to finish the meeting.
Here are the top shots from the day.

I hope you like the shots I was able to get from the weekend.

3rd August 2009
Newcastle - City Titles - 1st + 2nd August 2009
A beautiful and freezing start to Saturday saw the running of the 2 heats for the Newcastle city titles.
It was a fun day as a huge line up of classes kept the day flowing. The beautiful weather produced some great shots of the action and with very little problems the day finished nice and early.
Here are the top shots from the day.

Sunday started the same way, freezing cold but blue sky all day long as the pre-final and finals got underway.
A great day of racing was marred when the midgets karts 27 and 35 came together requiring an ambulance for 27. Our best wishes go out to both drivers for a speedy recovery. I have heard the young lad in kart 27 is sore and bruised but otherwise fine.
Here are the top shots from the day.
22nd July 2009
Oran Park - 19th July 2009
Sunday it was off to Oran Park for yet another massive turnout as everyone took the opportunity to practice for the state titles.
Another day of beautiful weather made shooting the huge fields a treat to catch.
The only red flag of the day was for 18 and 33 who collided when 9 karts tried to take the first corner at the same time!
Things got a little heated for 13 and 35 as they came together after the bridge.
The perfect weather setup my favorite shots of the bridge. I am going to miss oran park!
Here are the top shots from the day. Hope you like them.

Easterncreek - 18th July 2009
It was a beautiful day at the creek on Saturday to host a huge turnout.
With so many karts on the track at one time there was plenty of action to catch.
Kart 19 and 2 came together on turn 2 and the young ones where very lucky not to get hurt more. I’m guessing the helmet will be adjusted!
Unfortunately 3 red flag prior to finals meant that once again most of the finals where run after the sun set.
Here are the top shots from the day.

7th July 2009
Newcastle - 5th July 2009
Saturday turned on a beautiful day to photograph the Newcastle round. It was good to get back to this track after a short break.
The ski jump was particularly quiet as everyone eased their way around the tricky bend.
The large turnout made for some great action down on turn 1.
Overall a very smooth day and a pleasure to watch and shoot.
Here are some of the top shots from the day.
Don’t forget to check out the around the pits section for some candid shots..
Hope you enjoy the photos.

30th June 2009
Easterncreek - 27th June 2009
Sorry for the delay.
A very overcast day greeted the racers on Saturday at the creek. Unfortunately the extremely low light condition means I was only able to get a few shots from the day.
I had to leave early, just as the finals got underway, because the light was so bad.
Hope you like the ones I did get. Here are some of the top shots from the day.

23 June 2009
PSC - Oran Park - 20th to 21st June 2009
It was not long into the racing when the heavens opened on Saturday and it started to pour down. My favourite shooting conditions!
I would have preferred a bit more rain but I got to stomp around in the mud looking for the best puddle shots!
Despite the challenging conditions everything finished without many incidents (on the track anyway, I am told a few boys in the pits did get a bit heated!)
The day ended early although there was not enough light to catch the very last final which was delayed a very very time waiting for the stewards hearing.
Here are some of the top shots from the day.

Sunday started with a fog delay, but they were soon on the track battling it out.
It did not rain as much as Saturday but there was enough to provide me with some more fun shots.
This was an interesting shot that i caught, the flying cone!
Here some of the top shots from the day.

18 May 2009
Oran Park - 16th May 2009
It was a cold start to the day at Oran Park on Saturday as I turned up to a full house of over 240 entries.
But thankfully it warmed up quickly and the strong wind must have pushed the karts around because the racing almost completed before the sun disappeared.

The massive turnout surprisingly resulted in very few incidents. I’m sure kart 90 was grateful he was wearing a race suit!
Here are some of the top shots from the day.

Thanks to everyone for providing a great day of racing.

12 May 2009
Easterncreek - 9th May 2009
Saturday turned on a beautiful winter’s day at Easterncreek. Sun, blue sky and freezing cold!
Amazingly all the races finished before the sun set, despite a really good turnout. I cannot remember the last time that happened :-).
There were a few incidents but thankfully nothing too serious.

Here are a few of the top shots from the day.

29 April 2009
Lithgow - 25th + 26th April 2009
Sorry for the delay, needed a few days to thaw out my fingers, chip the ice from the camera and recover from pneumonia.
That was one of the coldest weekends I have ever spent in Lithgow. I thought the Saturday was bad but was surprised it did not start snowing on Sunday!

With clouds racing overhead there was little chance the sporadic rain was going to settle in so overall two dry days for racing.
Still, always a pleasure to catch the PSC crowd doing what they do best.
Most are experienced enough on the Lithgow track by now to avoid any serious problems. Mr Buggy poses for my favorite shot from Saturday.
Sunday was quiet as everyone tried to keep warm. One of my favorite shots from the day goes to a young man in the pits, I have to get one of those jumpers.
Hope you enjoy the photos.

Here are the top shots from Saturday.

20 April 2009
Easterncreek - 18th April 2009
Despite some threatening clouds the weather held off for another huge turnout for Easterncreek on Saturday.
A red flag at 4:30pm during the start of the finals marred a good days of racing. We hope the driver involved is recovering well.
I missed most of the finals as the sun set on the track. Here are the top shots for the day.

8th March 2009
Oran Park - 7th Feb 2009
A beautiful Saturday for a massive turnout at Oran Park.
Despite over 200 entries the racing was finished early thanks to some great driving. Fantastic to see such great numbers at the track.
My favourite shot from the day was of kart 3.
Here are the top shots from the day.

5th March 2009
Newcastle - PSC Round 28th Feb & 1st March 2009

The weekend saw the start of the PSC for 2009 at Newcastle. Its change to 2 x 1 day events is a bold move but no doubt welcome by most who only get to race on the one date.

Saturday’s turnout was really good with most of the classes containing full fields. Plenty of action all around.
Despite large numbers the racing there was only 2 red flags. One for the incident at turn 1 that involved kart 14 who thankfully walked away from the accident with a few bruises but all right.
Here are the top shots from the day.

Sunday was rather more subdues with less classes but still big fields. Once again some great driving saw very few problems out in the field.
Here are the top shots from the day.

Overall a very enjoyable weekend.

17th Feb 2009
Oran Park - Sunday 15th Feb 2009
From heat wave to flooding, I love the Sydney weather!
But I love the rain! So there are plenty of shots from Sunday.
Here are a few of the top shots.

3rd Feb 2009
EasternCreek - Saturday/Sunday 31st Jan -> 1st Feb 2009
Wow, hot does not come close to describing the weekend at Easterncreek. Both the weather and the racing!
Saturday turned on a beautiful day and the heat, with the wind blowing the hot air around. I'm told it reached 40 degrees in the shade around the pits!
Despite the heat there was a great turnout for the event. Here are the top shots.

Sunday turned on an equally beautiful day but the temp was much cooler but the racing was very hot.
I have to admit that this was one of the best racing I have seen in a long time. With all classes producing some great racing and the commentary was also excellent, well done to the club.
Here are a few of the top shots.

30th Jan 2009
Lithgow - Saturday/Sunday & Monday 24th-26th Jan 2009
After a huge (and hot) weekend at Lithgow, I finally have all the photos processed.

Saturday started the long weekend of racing with the juniors taking to the field to race after most had attended the junior camp.
It was awesome to see so many new faces especially in the midget and rookies.
Here are a few of the top shots from the day.

Sunday turned on an beautiful day to see the ladies take to the field to race for charity.
The men got to play pit crew and help out on the track as thier ladies got to have all the fun. The younger boys helping in thier own special way.
There are plenty of pit shots and top shots.

Monday turned on another beautiful and hot day to see the seniors take to the field.
I was offered a go in the mugs cup race and was overwhelmed by the generosity of the Piper family who loaned me a kart, race gear and provide all the support that allowed me to race and take photos in between races. Thank you guys!
It was my first go in a real kart and I now fully understand why everyone keeps coming back for more each week, it is SOO MUCH FUN!! I had such a good time.
Many thanks also to Garry who took time out to take photos for me during my race.
I managed to keep the kart on the track (mostly) for all 4 races and finished them all. I had an awesome time!.

My appologies to the Mugs Cup racers as I was only able to get photos from one round (thanks to Garry). To the Rotax drivers I only managed a few shots each round before the officials insisted I get ready for my race.
Here are the top shots.

Thanks to everyone for making the long weekend an amazing event to watch and be a part of. Hope you like the photos.
